Raised canadian. Raised right.

There’s one thing that all Canadian chicken farmers share: the desire to see each of our chickens raised with the greatest care possible. Because we know when chickens are raised right, you get good chicken.

The How

It’s all fine and dandy to say we care for our chickens. But what really matters are the details of how we take care of our animals. Here are some facts that might surprise you.

Since 1965, the use of hormones and steroids has been illegal in all chickens raised in Canada.

All our chickens are free to roam around the barn, where they can access food and water whenever they want.

We only use antibiotics when necessary and follow strict mandatory withdrawal times.

Animal Care Program

As part of our dedication to raising our chickens right, we created the Raised by a Canadian Farmer Animal Care Program. This regularly audited program helps us maintain our high standards today and well into the future.

All 2800+ farms are audited each year, with the entire program receiving an annual third-party audit to ensure accountability.
The program is mandatory in every province, ensuring a consistent national standard.
The program was developed with broad input from the government, academia, animal welfare organizations, and veterinarians, meeting all the requirements of Canada’s Animal Care Assessment Framework.

Next time you’re in your local grocery store, keep an eye out for the Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo. It’s how you know your chicken was raised right.
